Transcript of portrait interview:Describe yourself in 3 words
Colourful, loud, obsessive Where do you see yourself in the future? Being adored Being free and artistic, that’s all I see in my future What do you regret? I regret nothing, is that an answer? I don’t have a single regret, Everything I've done has lead to something else or been funny so I'm happy with everything to be honest How would you describe your style? A harajuku jakie kennedy when I go on dates, a playful 90s cheeky kitten during the week, bubbly eccentric cartoon character Why so much pink? It makes me feel innocent. I like the way I look in pink. It suits my heavily flirty personality. What are the most important parts of your life? Probably friends and art, and how they tie into each other, all of my friends bring different things into to my life. And they all have weird artistic quirks that enrich my life and make everything more exciting Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I want to be twerking in a hot tub in the Versace mansion with Donatella Versace feeding me grapes and a cute guy throwing money at me. And I want this to happen on a weekly basis. |
In order to achieve these photographs, I took inspiration from the master of candid and father of street photography, Henri Cartier-Bresson. I became much more mindful of The Decisive Moment which refers to the idea of waiting and capturing fleeting moments, producing images that are not only evocative but also ephemeral and spontaneous in nature, conveying the essence of the moment itself. 'You can’t go looking for it; you can’t want it, or you wont get it.' By adapting to this idea, I implemented the method of waiting more and allowing myself to open my eyes and watch more instead of watching through the viewfinder. By spending more time in each location, I opened myself up to find these unique sudden moments that I could quickly capture. Each of the successful images shows an individual unique instant that cannot be replicated. To keep improving in this way of working I had to constantly be adjusting the settings in order to ensure I achieved correct exposure and sharpness and a high quality photo. |
I came across the idea of using resin to glaze each photograph and transform them as it resembles liquid glass which creates a frame in it self. I find the shine and gloss of the surface very attractive and distinctive as a form of presentation. This is also a way for me to create a solid surface that reflects the notion of freezing time, or preserving each individual moment.
